NovaGold Resources Inc. (NYSE Alternext, TSX: NG) is a growth company focused on gold exploration, development and mining. The Company has begun commissioning at its 100%-owned Nome Operations in Alaska, which upon commercial production is projected to produce 100,000 ounces of gold on an annualized basis. NovaGold owns 50% of the Donlin Creek gold project in Alaska, one of the world's largest gold deposits, in an agreement with Barrick Gold (50%). Also, NovaGold and Teck Cominco have created a 50/50 partnership at the Galore Creek copper-gold-silver project in northwestern British Columbia.
The Company's current Measured and Indicated Resources are 21.8 million ounces of gold, 61.6 million ounces of silver and 41.5 billion pounds of copper, with additional Inferred Resources of 5.2 million ounces of gold, 44 million ounces of silver and 2.1 billion pounds of copper. This is one of the largest resource bases of any junior or mid-tier level producing gold company. NovaGold strongly believes that exploration success is one of the best ways to create shareholder value, and has consistently expanded the Company's resource base. At total acquisition and discovery costs of less than $3 per ounce of gold and 2 cents per pound of copper, these discovery rates far surpass industry averages and will continue to be a major catalyst for NovaGold’s growth.
