Lion Rock Resources (TSX-V: ROAR)(OTC: LRRIF), currently trading around C$0.30 per share, has reported initial drill results from its maiden drill program at the flagship, 100%-owned Volney Project — located in the Black Hills Mining District of South Dakota — confirming multiple critical mineral intercepts within the Giant Volney pegmatite.

Initial assays from the recently completed ~3,600-meter diamond drill campaign returned significant lithium, tin, and tantalum mineralization alongside elevated values of gallium, cesium, and rubidium — highlighting the project’s rare multi-commodity, critical metals profile.

Notably, all reported drillholes were collared directly into pegmatite, meaning the published intervals represent only partial thicknesses and remain open down plunge.
Lion Rock Resources CEO Dale Ginn — whom you’re about to hear from directly in our exclusive interview coming up next — commented on the strong initial LCT (Lithium-Cesium-Tantalum) assays at Volney via press release:
“These results confirm Giant Volney as a well-developed, near-surface LCT pegmatite system enriched in lithium, tin, tantalum, and gallium. The presence of multiple critical metals within a single zoned pegmatite body highlights the broader strategic relevance of Volney as North America continues to prioritize secure domestic supply chains for lithium and other critical minerals. Importantly, these results represent only the first batch of assays from our Phase 1 drill program, with additional lithium and gold results pending from multiple target areas along the Volney trend. We believe this marks the beginning of a broader evaluation of the district-scale potential at Volney.”
Importantly, the Volney system remains open down plunge and at depth with step-back drilling planned to test the full width and continuity of the mineralized footprint.
Headline results from this initial batch of assays include lithium intercepts grading up to 1.6% Li₂O over 10.6 meters, including higher-grade zones exceeding 2% Li₂O, as well as broad intervals of tin and tantalum mineralization. True thicknesses are expected to be better defined in follow-up drilling designed to cross the full pegmatite body.
These early results continue to validate Lion Rock’s geological model, confirming the presence of a well-developed, near-surface LCT pegmatite system at Volney.
Equally important, assays released to date reveal a robust multi-element critical mineral signature with Volney now confirmed to host seven minerals featured on the US Critical Minerals List: lithium, tin, tantalum, gallium, cesium, rubidium, and gold.
This highly favorable metals mix significantly enhances Volney’s strategic relevance at a time when the United States is prioritizing secure domestic supply chains for battery metals and advanced technology inputs.
While these assays represent only the first batch of results from Phase-1 drilling, additional lithium and gold analyses from multiple holes and target areas remain pending, including a dedicated set of gold-focused drill holes.
Forthcoming results are expected to further define the scale and continuity of mineralization along the Volney trend, spanning a structurally controlled corridor exceeding one kilometer.
Importantly, the Volney property is located in the prolific northwestern Black Hills of South Dakota, a historic mining district hosting major operations such as the Homestake Mine (one of the largest gold producers in North American history) and Coeur Mining’s Wharf Mine.

Volney’s position within this established mining district places it in a stable, mining-friendly US jurisdiction known for its political stability, clear regulatory frameworks, and established infrastructure — characteristics that continue to command growing premiums across the resource sector.
The project also holds the distinct operational advantage of sitting on private land with both surface and mineral rights, enabling streamlined permitting and year-round access.
All of this is unfolding within a highly favorable metals market, with gold trading near historic highs, lithium stabilizing after a prolonged correction, and critical minerals such as gallium, cesium, and tantalum drawing renewed attention amid tightening global supply and rising demand.
As the United States intensifies its focus on securing domestic critical mineral supply, Volney’s combination of high-grade polymetallic mineralization and private land access in South Dakota positions the project within an increasingly favorable strategic backdrop.
With Phase-1 drilling complete, additional gold and lithium assays up next, and more drilling on deck, ROAR is advancing Volney with multiple catalysts ahead amid a strong metals market.
Diving deeper as always, our own Gerardo Del Real of Junior Resource Monthly caught up with Lion Rock Resources CEO Dale Ginn to put the initial drill results into proper context and explain what they reveal about the scale and structure of the Volney system. Please enjoy!
